Viper 10 and 16 Mil Vapor Barriers are made of very strong woven strands of Polyethylene plastic. (Specifically: HDPE Yarn + LDPE Coating + Color Additive.) Viper Woven Vapor Barriers are stronger, more durable, and have lower (better) vapor and gas transmission ratings, weigh less, and are lower cost than non-woven products with the same PERM rate.
Viper Woven Vapor Barriers are rigorously tested according to ASTM standards and the results are included on the pages for both the Woven 10 and 16 mil products.
According to the ISI Building Products product Safety Data Sheet these Woven Vapor Barriers are, “Classified as non-hazardous.” “They are considered an “Article” as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 (c) and do not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees.” They are odorless, require no special equipment for safe handling and use, are “not classified as a carcinogen,” and NFPA flammability rating of 1 (Slight).
